Scientific and training activities of the Centre
The Centre of Family Medicine of Santariškių Klinikos is a constituent part of the Clinic of Internal Diseases, Family Medicine and Oncology of the Faculty of Medicine of Vilnius University (Head doc. V. Šapoka). On average, 200 students and 50 family medicine residency students study in the Centre per year, and more than 100 doctors attend the professional improvement training. The Centre closely cooperates with the Lithuanian Society of General Practitioners (President - Sonata Varvuolytė) and the Lithuanian Society of Teachers in Family Medicine (Chairwoman - scientific worker dr. E. Žėbienė). Three Doctor of Medical Science dissertations were maintained in the Centre, whereas one more is under way. In 2003, a conference of the European Association of Teachers in General Practice (EURACT) was organized in Vilnius.
